Registration interview

Work through this live with the candidate · auto-saved as you go
🕓 Registration: not started
1 · Compliance — REC checks internal only
2 · DBS
3 · Work history & references
The uploaded CV may be out of date — don't take it as gospel. Go through the full work history with the candidate and correct it: fix the dates, add the most recent role and any missing jobs, back to compulsory education. Only request references covering the most recent 24 months (the most recent role first) — not all the way back — with any gap of 4 weeks or longer explained.
Read a CV above first — the work history will appear here.

All questions must be answered before the registration outputs can be generated.
5 · Pay & take-home

"We'll go through pay now — do you have any expectations on daily rate?"

If yes Rate depends on experience & qualifications. Go through the minimum.
If no "We outsource our payroll to an umbrella company." — Have they worked through an umbrella before? Do they know how it works?
If they know it Just go through the breakdown in the KID (the calculator below).
If not, explain
  • Once they get their first payment, the umbrella company becomes their employer — so things like maternity / paternity pay go through them.
  • Sick pay is not paid — make sure they understand there's no pay for any days they're off sick.
  • There's a weekly umbrella fee, but we've uplifted their day rate to cover it — so it's already accounted for in the rate we've quoted.
  • Through an umbrella they also pay employer's National Insurance out of the assignment rate (plus the apprenticeship levy) — that's why the take-home below is lower than the headline rate. This is standard across all umbrella / supply pay.
  • On supply you can work across lots of different schools — but on the umbrella it shows as one continuous employer. That really helps for things like mortgage applications.
  • Pay is a week in arrears — work this week, you're paid the following Friday. Every Friday is pay day; payment can clear up until 5pm.
  • Holiday pay — two options: save it up for time off (half term, summer, personal days), or have it paid out each week (higher take-home, but nothing saved for time off). By default it's paid out, so they must ask for it to be saved if that's what they want.

Take-home calculator (the KID breakdown)

Enter a rate and days/hours to see the estimated take-home.
Estimate only, based on standard 2025/26 tax codes — actual pay depends on the candidate's tax code & other income.
